Other How to climb to the top and not be afraid of falling down
In this webinar, Harry Denanto is going to share his experience and knowledge of fear, failure and trust in reaching success in sport for elite athletes, which shares some interesting parallels with reaching success in the equally competitive academic world.
Harry introducing himself
My name is Harry Denanto and I am a passionate climber and professional climbing coach. Over the 16 years of my climbing and coaching career, I have discovered that humans can push their physical body beyond what they think is possible, and that a strong mind and discipline plays a very important role in reaching goals and success.
I reached my first climbing plateau within a year of climbing and it lasted for 5 years. I thought that was it, I am not going to go further to the next levels in climbing. After talking to some professional climbers, coaches and reading many climbing books, I decided to push my limit to see how far I could go.
As a result, I am now 38 years old and I am in the best shape of my life, my climbing skills have improved so much compared to my first 5 years, I have won several climbing competitions both as a competitor myself and as a coach, and, most importantly, my attitude has changed towards failure and plateaus. I now see them as part of a process, not a result. This is what keeps me going and this is what I teach to my athletes: mind over body.
