Harriet Wallberg receives Japanese decoration

The Government of Japan has announced that Harriet Wallberg, Professor of Physiology and former President of Karolinska Institutet, will receive the Order of the Rising Sun, Gold and Silver Star.

She is awarded the decoration in recognition of her significant contributions on promoting academic exchanges and mutual understanding between Japan and Sweden.

The Orders of the Rising Sun, which can be awarded in different classes, can be conferred on Japanese as well as non-Japanese recipients, who have made distinguished achievements in international relations in fields such as research and education, medicine and social welfare, economy and industry, and culture and sports.
