Hannes Asplund is GPH's new Health Ambassador

Hannes Asplund, Financial controller in the administraion team, is GPH's new health ambassador. The health ambassador acts as a link between GPH and KI's health promotion team aiming to encourage health initiatives and contribute to a healthy work environment. We asked our new Health Ambassador to share his best tips for creating a sustainable and healthy working environment.

What kind of exercise do you like?

I like variety. I try to do a few strength sessions at the gym every week and if possible, I go for a few runs as well. 

Do you have any tips on how to create recovery during the working day? 

For me, it's about trying to create some kind of structure, which frees up time for recovery. Exercise is also a good tool to prevent stress. I usually exercise after work or at lunch if I feel like I need to re-energize. 

What is your favorite snack to keep you energized during the working day?

Banana. Or a Nocco (unpaid collaboration).

If you have a health hack that you think everyone can incorporate into their daily routine, what would it be?

Micropauses. By far the most time-efficient tool to prevent stress if you ask me. Take a break for 5 minutes twice a day where you focus on breathing correctly. Then it is important to have good routines outside of work. Find a form of exercise that you find fun and that you think you can maintain in your everyday life. The mistake many people make is that they start exercising way too much too fast, and then stop completely. Set realistic goals that fit your daily routine and try to stick to the plan. It doesn't take much exercise to notice a difference in your mental and physical well-being. 

What do you listen to when you exercise? 

Anything and everything, mostly House. 

How will you use GPH's new mobile gym?

I will use the GPH gym during my micro breaks to get some movement and stretch during the workday. But the mobile gym has the tools needed for someone who doesn't have access to a regular gym. The health promotion team has a lot of tips on easy movements to do in the gym.
