Event: Ceremonial opening of the 660th academic year of Jagiellonian University

Tülay Lindberg, Associate Professor at the Department of Dental Medicine represented KI at the ceremony.

During this ceremony, Professor Jan Potempa received a special award for scientific academic accomplishments in the last five years. Professor Potempa is both head of the department of Microbiology at the Jagiellonian University (Poland) as well as Professor at the University of Louisville School of Dentistry USA). 

Professor Jan Potempa is a world-famous biochemist and microbiologist. His studies have shown that individuals affected with periodontitis are more susceptible to cardiovascular diseases, rheumatoid arthritis, pneumonia, and neurodegenerative changes in the brain contributing to the development of Alzheimer’s disease.
