DN debate: ”Erroneous recommendations from the National Board of Health and Welfare on pacifier use makes breast feeding more difficult”
Today (Oct 14), DN Debatt publishes a debate article by among others representatives from the Swedish Pediatric Society, Anna-Karin Bonamy-Edstedt and Jonas Ludvigsson (professor at the Department of Medical Epidemiology and Biostatistics) arguing that the recommendations on infant pacifier use from the National Board of Healthcare is incorrect. The new recommendations for pacifier use partly rely on a meta-analysis that although well-performed may not be valid for a large proportion of Swedish women according to Ludvigsson. The bottom line of the article is a demand for an immediate revision of the recommendations.
