– This feels great! I have had a very focused goal since undergraduate studies to continue my academic career at Karolinska Institutet. The docent (associate professor) is one step closer to the goal of being appointed as Professor. The new academic title is a proof of that the research and education I have conducted has a high academic rank and proof of my immunology expertise, says Dhifaf Sarhan.

Dhifaf's research mission is to develop immunotherapies that benefit both female and male cancer patients, which supports precision medicine/gender-optimized (genderised) medicine. The research group focuses on understanding the complex mechanisms that contribute to an immunosuppressive tumor microenvironment (TME) in treatment-resistant cancers that are affected by various gender factors. The new academic title is a proof of that the research and education I have conducted has a high academic rank and proof of my immunology expertise that will expand our interdisciplinary collaborations.
