China's Minister of Health Care and Family Planning, Madam Li Bin, visit to KI
China’s Minister of National Health Care and Family Planning, Madam Li Bin and her delegation visited Karolinska Institutet on Friday 20 May 2016.
The Acting Vice-Chancellor of Karolinska Institutet Karin Dahlman-Wright and the Deputy Vice-Chancellor for International Affairs Maria Masucci welcomed the Chinese Minister to Aula Medica for a brief introduction to ongoing collaborations with Chinese partners.
Karolinska Institutet has longstanding relations with China since the mid 70ies, and in a range of areas of education and research. There are agreements on different levels, but the majority of the activities with Chinese collaborators takes place between research groups, and are not centrally regulated. There are some collaborative agreements, projects and activities, which are initiated and supported centrally, for example, the initiative with Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences (CAMS).
Over the years there has been an increase in published research papers co-authored by researchers from Karolinska Institutet and China. The major research fields of collaboration are cardiovascular research, cancer research, regenerative medicine, immunity/inflammation research, and public health studies.
Chinas’s Ambassador to Sweden Mr. Chen Yuming was part of the delegation.
