Call for collaboration awards for doctoral students in collaboration with UK partner universities

This call aims to facilitate new and existing contacts as well as increase research collaboration with the University of Edinburgh, University College London (UCL), Imperial College London and King’s College London.

KI’s Internationalisation Board is pleased to announce the availability of limited competitive funds for collaborative activities. The purpose of these funds is to facilitate new and existing contacts between researchers and doctoral students as well as increase research collaboration with the University of Edinburgh, University College London (UCL), Imperial College London and King’s College London.

The collaboration award provides support for transportation and housing up to 10 500 SEK (including INDI) per person. The lab visit should be between 3-10 days but can be extended if co-financing is supplied by the supervisor (should be stated in the supervisor’s support letter).

Application

Applications should include: 

  • CV
  • Document supporting admission as doctoral student at KI (i.e. LADOK readout)
  • Statement of interest and description of the intended activities including relevance to the ISP (max 350 words combined)
  • Letter of support from the supervisor  
  • An invitation letter from the proposed host

Proposal format: Combine the documents into a single pdf file. 

Key considerations

The following aspects, in particular, will be taken into account: 

  • Opportunity to use or learn methodology or technology that is unavailable at KI
  • Strengthening of collaborations between KI and the University of Edinburgh, University College London (UCL), Imperial College London, or King’s College London

Meritorious:

Have completed half-time examination (should be stated in the letter of support from the supervisor)

Meritorious – when relevant for the different universities

  • As the University of Edinburgh and KI are members of the of Eurolife, activities in connection with Eurolife is meritorious.
  • Regarding collaboration lab visit to UCL Activities/projects within cancer, child health, neuroscience, AI and climate change, planetary health and mental health are meritorious.

Deadline and submission

Deadline for applications:  5 May 2025. The decision of funding will be made in May. The proposed travel should take place between June 2025 and June 2026.  

Proposal submission: Email your proposal to Lotta Lundqvist. Proposals submitted after the deadline will not be considered.
