About the Center for Imaging Research

The Center for Imaging Research (CIR) is a center for coordination and development of image analysis activities (imaging) within Karolinska Institutet (KI). CIR was created in 2019 by KI, Karolinska University Hospital (K) and Stockholm Health Care Services (SLSO) with the aim of gathering research-driven imaging activities and optimizing the scientific and educational conditions. CIR functions as an umbrella organization for a number of core facilities (ARG, BMIC, KERIC, MR center, RFC and SAMI but also the national infrastructure NatMEG). In accordance with a recent report (dnr: 1–671 / 2021), CIR will be structurally developed to constitute the hub for development of imaging within KI and a strategic investment in the area has recently been decided, where SEK 10 million will be provided by the Infrastructure Council, KI, for strategic development of CIR for the period 2023–2024.
