Welcome to join us for two wokshops on the use of theory in health research. The Doctoral Programme in Biology of Infections and Global Health (BIGH) is pleased to invite you on March 25th and April 1st. Each worskhop will have a specific topic and will be a full day activity. Attendance is in person.
The objective of this workshop is to offer conceptual tools to understand the role of theory in health research. Participants will learn how theoretical frameworks serve as essential lenses through which we interpret and make sense of empirical data in the field of public health.
Different topics will be discussed on the following days:
March 25th: workshop 1- Definition(s) of theory and the role of theory in health research.
April 1st: workshop 2- Macro theories and middle range theories.

The workshops will be presented by Mercedes Vila Ortiz, PhD student at the Department of Global Public Health at KI. Her focus is theoretically-based qualitative research in the field of maternal and sexual and reproductive health. She teaches Cultural Theory and Methodology at the National University of Rosario, Argentina.
Deadline for registration is March 15th. The number of places is limited to 20 people.
