Internal courses and training Workshop: Psychological Safety - Implications for teaching and learning
Welcome to a workshop on psychological safety that will give you the opportunity to immerse yourself in what psychological safety is, discuss its significance, apply concrete strategies in the teaching contexts as well as reflect and discuss with colleagues. We hope it will be an investment in both your professional development as well as students well being.
The importance of psychological safety as a key pillar in both a work and learning environment has been highlighted in the literature in the past few years. At Karolinska Institutet, it is included in the pedagogical policy as one of the guiding principles for quality teaching and learning.
In this workshop we invite you to delve deeper into the impact and meaning of psychological safety for teaching and learning. What is psychological safety? How do we foster psychological safety in our classrooms and what happens when we don’t? What are some potential pedagogical strategies which could be used to make learners feel more psychologically safe? How does psychological safety intersect with some other strategies we might already be implementing? Finally, how can we do this both face-to-face but also in online learning environments?
We will dedicate time for discussion and exchange as well as allow time and space for participants to consider how they might work with these topics in their own teaching and contexts.
