Lectures and seminars Workshop on Grant Writing with Angelika Hofmann

Target group 

Postdocs, researchers and final year PhD students at KI.

Part I: April 11th , 13.00-16.00

The overall goal of this workshop is to teach grant writers how to achieve maximum impact and success with the reader and reviewer in mind.  

Content 

• Types of grant applications 
• General Overview of Grant writing 
• Selected, key sections: Abstract, Objective, Specific Aims, and Significance 

Part II: April 12th, 13.00-16.30

In Part II participants will learn how to apply essential principles to writing a clear abstract for a grant proposal, including the overall objective, specific aims and significance. Emphasis will be on hands-on composing and revising of these key proposal components and on reviewing and evaluating those of others.  

NB: Limited number of participants in Part II. and prioritization will be given to postdocs and researchers. 

Participants admitted to part II will be asked to submit their first page for a research proposal, by April 7^th . Instructions will be sent out to admitted researchers. 

About the speaker

Angelika Hofmann, is Strategic Projects and Communications Advisor to the Vice Provost for Research at Yale University and author of two major textbooks on the topic: Scientific Writing and Communication – Papers, Proposals, and Presentations and the recently published Writing in the Biological Sciences.
