The presentation will cover the past 300 years of vaccination with variolation in the 18th century until now with established childhood vaccination programs in most countries and widespread adult vaccination strategies. It will address vaccines in the pipeline, the issue of multivalent vaccines and give a view on future developments.

About the speaker

Michael Kundi, MD, PhD, Professor, is the former head of the Department for Environmental Health at the Center for Public Health of the Medical University Vienna, Austria. He was until 2017 coordinator of the PhD program for public health at the Medical University Vienna. He is since more than 20 years member of the Austrian National Vaccination Board. His research covers many areas of public health, especially epidemiology, toxicology and vaccinology, and he has published more than 500 articles in the peer-reviewed literature.
