We are pleased to welcome you to the UNIVACC 2025 conference held at Karolinska Institutet, Stockholm. Join us to learn more about the latest research on the vaccination needs of underserved populations and on findings as to how to best address their vaccination needs. This is an excellent opportunity to expand your network and hear from a diverse range of speakers from both academia, policy and the NGO sector.

Audience

This conference is aimed at everyone interested in vaccine confidence, particularly among underserved populations and with a special focus on Europe or high and middle-income countries in general.

Speakers

Michael Edelstein

Professor Michael Edelstein

Michael Edelstein is a Public health doctor and Professor of public health at Bar-Ilan University (BIU), Israel. His expertise and interests include vaccine epidemiology and policy with a focus on health equity. Prior to joining Bar-Ilan University, Michael was a consultant epidemiologist at Public Health England (now UK HSA) where he led the vaccine equity agenda. At BIU he runs a research programme that aims to understand and address, both quantitatively and qualitatively, inequity in vaccination among different population groups in Israel and beyond. He is the co-PI of RIVER-EU, a Horizon Europe funded project aiming at improving vaccination among Europe's underserved communities. 

Sandra Mounier-Jack

Professor Sandra Mounier-Jack

Sandra Mounier-Jack is an experienced public health and health systems researcher with over 15 years of experience studying the implementation of infectious disease control and vaccination programs, both in low- and middle-income countries and the UK. Currently, she works at UNICEF HQ in the Immunization Section, overseeing a portfolio of projects related to immunization financing and implementation research on integrated vaccine delivery.

Brett Craig

Dr. Brett Craig

Brett Craig, PhD, is a technical officer for immunization equity in the Vaccine Preventable Diseases and Immunization Programme of the World Health Organization Regional Office for Europe. His background is in social and behavioural sciences in healthcare settings. His current work includes providing regional guidance and country-level technical support in embedding an equity approach within national immunization programmes, namely the continual process of identifying and addressing inequities through tailored strategies at the national, subnational and community levels.

Pania Karnaki

Pania Karnaki

Pania Karnaki, Director of European and International programs at Prolepsis Institute, is a psychologist with a specialization in health promotion. She received her MSc in Health Science from Edith Cowan University, Western Australia. She has managed numerous projects in the area of public health and health promotion. She was the coordinator of the EU project 'Access to Vaccination for Newly Arrived Migrants' and participates in the RIVER EU project - Reducing Inequalities in Vaccine uptake in the European Region – Engaging Underserved communities.

Dr. Ben Kasstan-Dabush

Dr. Ben Kasstan-Dabush (MSc, PhD) is Lecturer of Global Health Policy at the University of Edinburgh and Assistant Professor of Global Health and Development at the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine. Ben trained as a medical anthropologist and his research interrogates ideas and narratives of health protection, what it means, and according to whom. He is an expert on vaccine equity and has supported UK Health Security Agency and the CDC with responses to the spread of infectious diseases such as measles and polio. He served as an expert witness to the UK Covid-19 Inquiry on vaccine delivery and disparities in coverage.

All the seminars at this conference will be held in English.

Registration

Conference registration fee

  • Early Bird Fee: 1500 SEK (excl. VAT)
  • Late Fee: 2000 SEK (excl. VAT)
  • Students/PhDs: 1000 SEK (excl. VAT)

Payments

All payments must be made in SEK (Swedish krona). Payments should be made by credit card or by bank transfer (invoice). Invoices to Swedish organizations will be sent as an electronic invoice (e-faktura) if possible. We accept the following credit cards: VISA and Mastercard.

VAT

According to Swedish and EU legislation, 25% Swedish VAT will be added to all registration fees.

This according to EU legislation and regulation for conferences and events (C-647/17, EU:C:2019:195, of 13 March 2019 and Article 53 of Council Directive 2006/112/EC of 28 November 2016) VAT is paid in the country where services are rendered, e.g. the country in which the conference takes place.

Exception: Swedish participants from governmental public sector organizations (e.g., universities, governmental agencies): No VAT will be added. In this case, you must choose Invoice (Swedish billing address only) as the payment mode and provide the VAT number of your employer.

Cancellation

Cancellations should be made in writing to the conference secretariat. If you cancel a still unpaid registration, you will be charged a cancellation fee of SEK 500.

  • Cancellations made by 9 May 2025: the total amount will be refunded except for the cancellation fee, SEK 500.
  • Cancellations made after 9 May 2025 will not be refunded.

Change of Name

Should you be unable to attend, you will be given the opportunity to send someone in your place at no extra cost. If this should be the case, please contact the conference administration office, Academic Conferences at univacc2025@akademikonferens.se

Accommodation

We recommend the Elite Hotel Carolina Tower, located within walking distance to the conference venue.

Abstract submission

We welcome authors to submit abstracts for either oral or poster presentations relating to vaccine confidence. We have three categories for abstract submission: 

  1. Understanding and defining underserved communities
  2. Innovative strategies to reach underserved groups and 
  3. Other abstracts relating to vaccine confidence.
