Lectures and seminars The Table 1 and Table 2 fallacies – what are they and why should they be avoided?
Welcome to a biostatistics seminar hosted by Clinicum Node Solna with Caroline Dietrich, statistician at the Clinical Epidemiology Division. This seminar targets all researchers interested in developing their professional competence and skills in statistical and epidemiological methodology.
Topic this seminar
Caroline Dietrich is a senior statistician with main research interests in reproductive epidemiology and cancer patient survival, with a particular focus on survivorship and methods for multistate modelling. In this seminar, Caroline will explain two concepts known as the Table 1 and the Table 2 fallacies that are related to unsound use of significance testing and model adjustment in epidemiological and clinical research. The talk will also review general principles of statistical testing and p-values that are relevant to anyone who is performing or interpreting research output. We look forward to an interactive seminar with an open discussion on how and why we should avoid these two common statistical pitfalls.
