The latest research on physical activity and health! Why should we walk the stairs?

Mai-Lis Hellénius is a professor at Karolinska Institutet. She is a physician and has for several decades been a researcher and a lecturer in the area of physical activity, lifestyle and health. In the lecture she summarizes the state of knowledge and focuses on the importance of everyday movement.

Ullakarin Nyberg has worked as a psychiatrist for nearly 30 years. Now Ullakarin works with Suicide Prevention within Northern Stockholm’s psychiatry and is doing research on suicide at the Centre of psychiatric research.

How to help children to a more active and healthy lifestyle

Carolina Klüftis a former athlete with several championship medals. Today she is operation manager of Generation Pep, a non-profit organization initiated by the Swedish Crown Princess Couple. The vision of Generation Pep is that all children and young people in Sweden should have the ability and desire to live an active and healthy life.

Gabriel Wikström Gabriel Wikström is national coordinator of Agenda 2030 with a past in the field of public health and party politics, including as Minister of Health, Public Health and Sports.

What can society and politics do?

Panel discussion with the lecturers Mai-Lis Hellénius, Carolina Klüft and Gabriel Wikström and Anette Jansson, expert of lifestyle and prevention at the Swedish Heart and Lung Foundation and Rickard Bracken, Secretary General of Suicide Zero.

H.R.H Prince Daniel and the national coordinator of physical activity appointed by the Swedish government, Johan Holmsäter are also participating during the day.

The Stairs Day in collaboration with Suicide Zero, Karolinska Institutet, The Heart-Lung Foundation and Generation Pep.

It is lead by Mattias Sunneborn och Jenny Åkervall, initiators of 100 trappsteg.
