Lectures and seminars The Influence of Epigenetics on Macrophage-Mediated Inflammation in Normal and Pathologic Wound Healing
Lecturer: Professor Katherine Gallagher, John R. Pfeifer Professor of Surgery, University of Michigan
Dr. Katherine Gallagher is the John R. Pfeifer Professor of Sugery and an Associate Professor of Surgery and Associate Professor of Microbiology & Immunology at the University of Michigan. She is investigating the role of epigenetic and metabolic alterations in bone marrow progenitor cell populations and how this influences peripheral macrophage phenotypes, particularly in Type 2 Diabetes. She has had a long-standing defined clinical and translational interest in the mechanisms underlying impaired inflammation in vascular disease. Her long-term goal is to uncover the basic mechanisms responsible for the coordination of immune cells in early tissue repair processes, determine impairments in Type 2 Diabetes and other vascular pathologies and translate this knowledge to the bedside.
