Internal courses and training Successful patient and public involvement in research – Ethical guidelines and considerations
Patient and public involvement, co-creation, citizen science and other methods for engaging patients and the public can benefit research. Working together with the public leads to new ethical considerations. In this workshop, we discuss ethics in PPI, from moral and legal perspectives.
Research funders and scientific journals increasingly expect researchers to involve stakeholders in research when addressing societal challenges. Patient and public involvement (PPI) can bring new insights and perspectives to increase the societal relevance of the research, and promote the dissemination and uptake of research findings. But this requires that we consider the ethical perspectives, both from moral and legal perspectives.
All KI researchers and employees interested in the topic – with or without prior experience – are welcome to participate in this workshop and networking event, where we present ethical perspectives and regulations around PPI. In this interactive workshop, you will listen to experts in ethics and PPI, as well as work together with the other workshop participants on ethical considerations and actions.
