Lectures and seminars Stockholm Public Health Lecture: Public Health in a time of population ageing, What do we know about the health of the oldest old?
The Center for Epidemiology and Community Medicine in collaboration with the Department of Global Public Health, invites to the upcoming lecture in the Stockholm Public Health Lectures series.

We live in a time of population ageing. The oldest old comprise a rapidly growing segment of the population, and it is expected to grow even faster over the coming decades. Historically, this has been a group characterized by high levels of disease, frailty, and complex care needs.
In this seminar, we will discuss what is known about the public health of the oldest old, how it has developed over time, and what we can expect in the future. We will also discuss what good health may mean in old age, when multimorbidity is the norm and functional losses are common.
As a basis for the discussion professor Kaare Christensen will give a presentation on the state-of-the art of public health research among the oldest old, with a special focus on the Nordic countries. To complement this, associate professor Stefan Fors will present the main findings from a recent report on the health and function among people who are 85 years and older in Stockholm.
After the presentations, there will be a panel discussion with invited stakeholders. There will also be possibilities for the audience to pose questions to the panel and the presenters.
