Lectures and seminars ”Stem-cell-a-thon” seminar #3

13-04-2023 2:00 pm - 3:00 pm Add to iCal
Campus Flemingsberg

Speaker: Prof. Christine Mummery, Leiden University, Netherlands
Title: Human pluripotent stem cells to understand cardiovascular disease for drug discovery

Christine Mummery's specialization: Her research focus concerns cardiovascular development and disease models based on human pluripotent stem cells (hPSC). Immediate interests are on developing biophysical techniques for characterization and functional analysis of cardiovascular cells from hPSC with the ultimate aim of understanding underlying disease mechanisms and drugs for treatment through bioassays. Aside from cardiomyocytes, in a clinical setting they study a hemorrhaging disease (HHT) caused by mutations in TGFß receptors and revealed several important mechanismsunderlying the disease and investigating several candidate drugs now being prescribed to patients.

Discussion with Christine Mummery, will be possible online right after his talk, please contact Sophia Borate (Sophia.Borate@ki.se) for more information.
