Lectures and seminars Seminar: "Epigenetics of sex differences"
Welcome to a seminar with Prof. Claudia Isabelle Keller Valsecchi, University of Basel, Switzerland.
Prof. Claudia Isabelle Keller Valsecchi from the University of Basel investigates how cells control gene dosage alterations during evolution and disease. Her research focuses on the epigenetic and molecular mechanisms that balance gene expression between sexes, from chromosome-wide dosage compensation to tissue-specific regulation of the X chromosome. By integrating evolutionary and comparative approaches across species, her work reveals how dosage control shapes development, sex differences, and disease susceptibility.
In addition to her talk at KI, Prof. Valsecchi will be the opponent of PhD candidate Natali Papanicolou’s defense taking place at 9:30 on the same day in Atrium, Nobels väg 12b.
