‘Scientists Show Art’ gives you a unique opportunity to see the world through the eyes of both artist and scientist. Experts from Karolinska Institutet will show Helen Pynor's work through a scientific lens.
Meet Brita Zilg, forensic pathologist and researcher, who will tell you more about current research in some of the areas that Helen Pynor's art deals with.
Brita Zilg is a forensic pathologist at the National Board of Forensic Medicine and an affiliated researcher at Karolinska Institutet. She was born in East Germany and came to Sweden at the age of eleven. During the 1990s she worked in the media and was one of the founders of the magazine and website Darling. She was also the one who designed and named the acclaimed anthology “Fittstim”. She gave a summer talk in 1998. At the age of thirty, she chose to change careers and become a doctor. After graduating from medical school, she specialized in forensic medicine and completed her PhD with an analysis of vitreous fluid in dead people's eyes. She has produced the podcast series The Corpse After Death and co-runs the Instagram account of the same name.
