Researchers’ Night (Forskarfredag) is a science festival organized by Vetenskapens hus in Stockholm. Many KI researchers are part of the program. The target audience is the general public, but primarily high school students.

Participating Researchers from KI

Lectures and Panel Discussions

  • How does placebo actually work, and what are the limits of which diseases can be affected by placebo? Among other things, this is what Karin Jensen, professor at the Department of Clinical Neuroscience, will talk about during the lecture “The Brain and Placebo.”
  • Erik Andersson, associate professor at the Department of Clinical Neuroscience, demonstrates various approaches that help us understand and treat anxiety: “What is the point of anxiety?”
  • Susanna Brighenti, associate professor at the Department of Medicine, Huddinge, lectures on multi-resistant tuberculosis.
  • How can we become even better at navigating an increasingly information-rich world when crises follow one another? How do we know whom to trust? This is discussed by Philip Pärnamets, researcher at the Department of Clinical Neuroscience, during the Lunch Panel: “Facts vs. Opinion” together with researchers from KTH and Stockholm University.

Dialogues and Workshops

  • Caroline Ran, researcher at the Department of Neuroscience, holds a dialogue with a school class on the theme: “Research on Genetics and Diseases.”
  • During the program point “Meet a Researcher,” Marion Humbert, researcher at the Department of Medicine, Huddinge, talks about T-cells and immunity.
  • Jonas Carlsten, researcher at the Department of Molecular Medicine and Surgery, holds a workshop on the theme: “Knowledge of Genes Can Solve Diseases.”
  • The workshop “Zoom in on the Liver!” is held by Lenka Belicova and Elisabeth Verboven, researchers at the Department of Cell and Molecular Biology.

    Science Fair

During Researchers’ Night, an exhibition is held where several researchers from KI participate, including: Dorota Religa, Department of Neurobiology, Care Sciences and Society, Fredrik Lanner and Daniel Holl from SFO StratRegen, Pavitra Kannan, Department of Microbiology, Tumor and Cell Biology, and Giada Di Nunzio, Department of Medicine, Solna.

The competition Researchers' Grand Prix

In Researchers' Grand Prix, researchers compete to make the most understandable, captivating, and inspiring presentation of their research in four minutes. Representing KI are Pernilla Siljehag from the Department of Neurobiology, Care Sciences and Society, and Erik Andersson from the Department of Clinical Neuroscience.

For the schedule of each program point, keep an eye on the Vetenskapens hus website. See the link below.
