Other Prospects and pitfalls in precision health innovation
Welcome to a Connected Conversation event hosted by Karolinska Institutet Innovations AB and the office of Innovations UNICEF.
Ensuring healthy lives and promoting well-being at all ages is a cornerstone of sustainable development. Advances in life sciences, medicine, and technology open opportunities to find new ways of keeping people healthy. But how can we ensure that emerging precision health innovations deliver impact for all – particularly the most vulnerable?
The emerging field of precision health offers a different model of healthcare - one that considers differences in people’s genes, environments and lifestyles and formulates prevention strategies and treatments based on their unique backgrounds and conditions.
The real value of precision health technologies and innovations for the international development sector will become clearer over the next 5-12 years. However, if precision health is to fulfill its potential for every child, action is required now to address the risk of exacerbating current health inequalities and evolve to a vision of health and well-being that is inclusive and comprehensive.
