Without clear communication, even the best data in science means little. Participants of this hands-on workshop will acquire fundamental skills of professional scientific writing and learn what constitutes clear English communication in science.
Workshops on Fundamentals of Professional Scientific Writing and Drafting a Research Abstract
Emphasis will be on practical applications in a research paper. We will cover technical style, word choice and location, sentence structure and location, as well as paragraph structure and composition with the reader in mind. We will then apply the presented writing principles to drafting the abstract of a research paper. Workshop presented by Angelika Hofmann.

Target group: Postdocs. Final year PhD students if seats are available.

Angelika Hofmann is Strategic Projects and Communications Advisor to the Vice Provost for Research at Yale University and author of two major textbooks on the topic: Scientific Writing and Communication – Papers, Proposals, and Presentations and the recently published Writing in the Biological Sciences.
