Real World Data (RWD) has been defined by the European Medicines Agency (EMA) as “routinely collected data relating to patient health status or the delivery of health care from a variety of sources other than traditional clinical trials”. Amongst the examples of RWD, but not limited, to are: health records collected at various healthcare providers (general practitioners, specialists, laboratories, etc.); medication prescriptions and dispensations; disease registries; claims databases; patient-reported outcomes (PROs), etc.

Anna Mourskaia has a background in pre-clinical research within the field of oncology, specializing in solid tumors. She has obtained her PhD degree from McGill University with a subsequent postdoctoral fellowship at Karolinska Institute. After her postdoctoral fellowship, she has joined the IQVIA’s Real-World & Analytics Solutions team in the Nordics as a project manager. Anna has then moved to Parexel, where she first was a part of and then moved to heading the Europe/Canada RWD Strategy team.

Dimitris chioureas obtained his PhD from the Medical School of Athens, during which he performed part of the experimental work in Karolinska Institutet. Afterwards, he returned to Karolinska as a postdoctoral researcher for four years before joining Parexel in the team of Real World Data Strategy, Europe/Canada.

Anna and Dimitris are a part the global team at Parexel that drives RWD scientific strategy in Europe and Canada. Our team supports various functions within our company with identifying and implementing innovative access to RWD within our region. In addition, we liaise with various academic, public and commercial RWD stakeholders in order to establish partnerships that will provide our pharmaceutical clients with fit-for-purpose solutions based on RWD. Finally, we follow closely regulatory guidelines and feedback on secondary use of healthcare data for research purposes.
