About Prof. Yvonne Janssen-Heininger's research
Professor Yvonne Janssen-Heininger’s lab investigates the role of epithelial cells in inflammation and remodeling, particularly in conditions such as obese asthma and lung fibrosis. By exploring the metabolic reconfiguration and plasticity of epithelial cells, her team aims to uncover how these processes contribute to chronic inflammation and tissue remodeling. A significant aspect of their research involves studying the impact of S-glutathionylation on epithelial cell function and its role in chronic lung diseases (see, for example, this article).
Prof. Janssen-Heininger’s innovative approaches, including the use of advanced cell and molecular biology techniques, aim to develop clinically relevant strategies to mitigate chronic inflammation and fibrosis, advancing our understanding of redox biology and paving the way for the potential development of new therapeutic interventions.
Prof. Yvonne Janssen-Heininger will be serving as the opponent in the upcoming Ph.D. defense of Radosveta Gencheva.
