Other Online seminar (via Zoom) with Thomas Crouzier: "Engineering mucus for the development of new biomaterials and therapies"
Welcome to an online seminar with Thomas Crouzier, The Royal Institute of Technology (KTH), who will give a talk on how his research group explores the potential of direct intervention to the mucus layer to repari or enhance its functions.
Speaker
Thomas Crouzier, The Royal Institute of Technology (KTH).
Abstract
"Mucus is a gels that cover and protects our epithelium and that, although essential to life, is often overlooked by research. However, we know more than ever about how mucus lubricates, hydrates, and interacts with microbes and our immune system in health and disease. In my group we leverage this knowledge to engineer new biomaterials and therapies.
In this talk, I will tell you about how we explore the potential of direct intervention to the mucus layer to repair or enhance its functions. And how we exploit the immune-modulating properties of mucus glycoproteins to create antibiotic hydrogel biomaterials. "
