The Corrado lab investigates mitochondrial metabolism in T cells during immune responses against pathogens, cancer, and autoimmune diseases. Special focus is given to how cardiolipin within the inner mitochondrial membrane regulates T cell function. Their work has suggested that cardiolipin synthesis and remodelling are crucial for T cell activation and adaptation to different micro-environments, and the lab’s goal is to identify potential therapeutic targets for immune-related disorders and aging-related decline in mitochondrial function.
