Innovation systems for research-based medical technology
Presenter: Ulf Petrusson, Göteborgs universitet
Host: Carl Johan Sundberg
Ulf Petrusson will present a research project that demonstrates the need for in-depth knowledge of regulatory compliance for academic research and sustainable utilization of medical technology. The (EU) Regulation 2017/745 on Medical Devices (MDR) is specifically addressed in this aspect. The project sets out how regulations, standards, guidance documents etc. are critical instruments and means for entrepreneurs and other project drivers from academia and healthcare to manage and govern medical technology innovations.
The seminar will focus on the roles and functions of the innovation support systems supporting said entrepreneurs and project drivers in their utilization activities. The utilization areas encompass academic research for medical technology innovations in a digital age, and the challenges that result from the digitization of medical products as well as in healthcare.
