About the speakers
Titia Bal is a second-year healthcare management master’s student at VU Amsterdam in the Netherlands. Before starting this Master’s, she completed a Bachelor’s in Science and Innovation Management at Utrecht University and participated in the Geosciences Honours College. Her thesis focused on boundary setting for reimbursing medications in the Netherlands. In the first year of her Master’s, she conducted five months of research at Amsterdam University Medical Centre (UMC) on the digitalisation of healthcare and employees’ perspectives on this development, focusing on digital inequality. She also worked at Amsterdam UMC for two years outside her studies as a backoffice student employee (admin tasks) at the pediatric outpatient clinic. She works part-time as a working student in healthcare IT in the Quality Team at a large Dutch company that develops electronic patient records alongside her studies. Currently, she has started her Erasmus internship at the Prevention - Policy & Practice research group, department of learning, informatics, management and ethics (LIME) at Karolinska Institutet.
Dr. Tanja Tomson is an Associate professor at the Department of learning, informatics, management and ethics, (LIME), Karolinska Institutet (KI). Currently head of unit and the Prevention - Policy & Practice research group. Her research focuses on generating evidence for effective prevention and promotion in health care. Main interests include health promotion, prevention, leadership, and mentoring.
Seminar description
In this seminar the speakers will present the upcoming work (currently in the planning phase) focusing on the following research questions: How do the perspectives of caregivers at Liljeholmen Primary Healthcare Centre in the Stockholm Region and Dutch general practitioners (GPs) on Tobacco Cessation on Prescription (TCP) compare, and how can these insights inform its potential implementation and broader applicability in primary care?
