Intermittent fasting by the 5:2 diet is feasible and improves risk factors for cardio-vascular disease in type 2 diabetes and overweight/obese subjects without diabetes.

Seminar description

Adherence to weight reducing interventions is often poor. In recent years intermittent fasting, a diet alternating between a period of fasting and non-fasting has gained public popularity.

In this session Anton Hellberg will present results from a study evaluating the feasibility and effects of the 5:2 diet on weight, metabolic and hormonal risk factors for cardio-vascular disease and glycaemic control in overweight subjects with and without type 2 diabetes.
