Other KI Contributes: War and Art - a conversation

The Centre for Health Crises invites you to a conversation about how societies, culture, and individuals are affected by war; explored through the lens of visual arts. It will be based around the newly opened exhibition Military art: Art for defense at Candyland, an artist run contemporary space in Stockholm.
The exhibiting artist Mkrtich Tonoyan, is from Armenia, a country in conflict. In his work he has explored various aspects of “military art”. He will introduce his perspectives and as illustrated in the exhibition. It will be followed by reflections by Natalia Stern, a Swedish orthopedic surgeon, who recently came back from her second surgical missions to Ukraine where she treated war-wounded together with local colleagues. The conversation will be guided by the director of the Centre, Professor Johan von Schreeb, who has significant experience of working in wars and conflicts.
