Seminar: Health promotion and prevention of stress related illness
How to maintain a good health during your PhD? This seminar will focus on maintaining a healthy work-life balance during the start of working life and how to prevent stress from taking over. Theoretical models as well as practical behavior change techniques will be included.
Seminar: Communication skills, conflict management, and assertiveness
You will learn how to communicate in an effective way with your supervisors and other colleagues. Moreover, the seminar will cover how to handle conflicts and apply assertiveness by a theoretical presentation and practical exercises.

Alfredo Gimenez Cassina
Seminar: The publishing process and different career paths after PhD
Publishing papers is one of the main goals of doing research during your PhD. Each journal has different requirements when it comes to publishing, but you will always encounter reviewers. Dr Alfredo, Associate Editor at Nature Metabolism, will teach us how the publishing process works in a high impact journal like Nature Research Group and how to strategically react to reviewers.
Seminar: Different career paths after PhD
Dr Alfredo, will discuss what it is like to work as a Reviews and Primary Research editor, which skills are required for the job and how to make the transition from academia to communication. Further, he will give tips on the job application including the pros and cons from an editorial perspective.
Patricia Torregrosa Paredes
Dr Patrica Torregrosa Paredes, Business Unit Manager at Randstad Life Sciences Sweden, will talk about “Career Skills for Scientists” - best tips for people transitioning from academia to other positions when it comes to writing CVs and interviewing.
Irina Pader
Seminar: Career in industry
Dr Irina, EMEA Medical Content Excellence Manager, cover the transition from academia to the pharmaceutical industry. After a short introduction, she discusses what it is like to work in Medical Affairs, what makes you a suitable candidate for industry and how to prepare for the transition to industry. Further, she will also give tips on the job application and interview process, etc.
Carolina Hagberg
Seminar: Career in academy
Assistant Professor Carolina Hagberg, located at the Cardiovascular Medicine Division at the Department of Medicine, Solna, will talk about how to establish yourself in academy after doctoral studies and pursue a career in research. Carolina Hagberg did her PhD in vascular biology at KI and turned to adipose tissue biology during her successful postdoc years in the Spalding lab, leading to several publications in high impact papers. In 2019 she started her own lab focusing on the role of adipose tissue metabolism in obesity and type 2 diabetes.
