Program

Dr. Sara Houston is a senior lecturer at the Department of Dance at the University of Roehampton in London. Her special interest is community dance, with a particular focus on the marginalized in society. Her research on Dance and Parkinson's disease earned her the BUPA Foundation's "Vitality for Life" award in 2011. This groundbreaking study from the University of Roehampton investigated over a four-year period how people with Parkinson's disease are affected by dance, resulting in the book "Dancing with Parkinson's" in 2019.

Dr. Hanna Poikonen combines science, dance, art, and technology. In 2011, she completed a diverse Master's degree at Aalto University School of Science in Finland, focusing on biomedical engineering, neuroscience, art theory, and intercultural communication. She is the founder of the WiseMotion community and a researcher at ETH Zurich and Örebro University Hospital

Gunnar Bjursell is Professor Emeritus and Director of the Center for Culture, Cognition, and Health at Karolinska Institutet.

Åsa N.Åström is a developer of Dance Health at the Ballet Academy, educating new educators in the Dance for PD method, and is active in the Dance for Health IADMS (International Association for Dance, Medicine, and Science) committee. She is one of the founders of the network Dance for Parkinson Sweden and active in several projects within the field of Dance Health/Dance for Health.
