Topic

"Mobile applications for self-management and motivation of people with diabetes"

The diabetes group at the Norwegian Centre for E-health Research, University Hospital North Norway (UNN), together with researchers at the Department of Computer Science, University of Tromsø - The Arctic University of Norway, have for the past two decades worked with the development and testing of self-management tools for people with diabetes. The team works closely with the endocrinology department at UNN and the Norwegian Diabetes Association. We have also participated in several EU projects.

The Diabetes Diary, which we developed in 2007, is used by thousands of people with diabetes. The diary was developed in close collaboration with people with diabetes and is available in Norwegian, English and Czech. As far as we know, we were the first to distribute a smartwatch version of a diabetes diary. Over the years, we have developed and tested several self-help solutions for people with diabetes and experimented with various technological solutions to motivate users to follow up and master their own treatment. The presentation gives an overview of some of our past and current research projects.

What are the Health Informatics Conversations?

HI Conversations - a seminar series about Health Informatics

The conversations are about research-oriented health informatics topics, i.e. – presenting a published article, your research area, a relevant theory or a method etc.

The Health Informatics Conversations will be recurring the last Thursday (except for June and December) every month at 12.00 via Zoom and last for one hour. This hour includes 20 minutes of presentation and leaves the rest of the time for discussions, all in English.

If you are a PhD-student – this is a credit-bearing activity, as long as the topic is relevant for your research.
