Lectures and seminars Healthcare under attack in Sudan - Lunch Webinar

The war in Sudan has been ongoing for over two years, and the situation for civilians is often described as the world’s worst humanitarian catastrophe today. Around 12 million people have been forced to flee, and famine prevails in several parts of the country.
At the end of October, nearly 500 civilians were killed in an attack on a maternity hospital in Al-Fashir, Sudan. This is one of many shocking examples of how healthcare has become a direct target in Sudan and in other conflict zones around the world.
Systematic attacks on healthcare infrastructure, staff, and patients occur repeatedly, and the perpetrators often go unpunished. This has devastating consequences for the civilian population and for healthcare systems that are often already fragile.
With this webinar, the Centre for Health Crises at Karolinska Institutet and Médecins Sans Frontières aim to shed light on the grave situation in Sudan, raise awareness of how systematic attacks on healthcare are used as a strategy of war, and discuss how we, in solidarity with colleagues in conflict-affected areas, can work together to bring about change.
The seminar will be held in English.
