Brief description
Quick returns or short rest intervals (<11h) between shifts restrict the time available for sleep and recovery and is a source of fatigue. Quick returns have received little attention in the research literature relative to other shift work characteristics, but have been associated with an increased risk of accidents, prospective sick leave and sleepiness. The purpose of this thesis is to investigate the acute effects of quick return on sleep, fatigue, health, and performance among nurses and nursing assistants.
