Join us for this interactive seminar to learn about and discuss progress and priorities in global adolescent health. The seminar will draw on findings from a recent Word Health Organization stocktaking exercise on adolescent health with focus on young adolescents ages 10-14 years.

In this seminar we will hear about what has been learned since 2010 in different areas of adolescent health, dive into local examples of research from Sweden, and end with a panel discussion on future priorities to advance the health and wellbeing of (young) adolescents globally.

Program

The seminar consists of two sessions, beginning with a keynote and short presentations followed by a panel discussion.

Background

In 2010, a global expert panel convened by the WHO set forth a number of recommendations to expand research and programming on young adolescents (those under the age of 15) with focus on sexual and reproductive health. At the time, much of the available information on adolescents was limited to those 15 years and over. About a decade later, WHO/HRP partnered with Johns Hopkins and leading researchers across the globe to take stock of what had been learned and commissioned a series of priority papers to explore trends, risk factors, effective interventions, and research advances. This time, the focus moved beyond SRH to cover different areas in adolescent health, presented in a recent special supplement to the Journal of Adolescent Health: https://www.jahonline.org/article/S1054-139X(24)00334-3/fulltext During this GlobeLife seminar, we will learn about key findings from the stocktaking exercise, and discuss priorities for the coming decade together with key experts in the field both globally and in Sweden.
