Lectures and seminars Eurolife Distinguished Lecture: Glycomics of human immune responses
Welcome to this lecture by Prof Dr Manfred Wuhrer from Leiden University Medical Center, The Netherlands, arranged by Karolinska Institutet as part of the Eurolife Distinguished Lecture Series (EDLS).
Glycosylation is a key factor in shaping multicellular life including immunological responses. Glycosylation modifies the activity and fate of both antibodies and immune cells involved in infections, inflammatory responses and cancer. Mass spectrometry approaches allow to unravel disease-associated glycosylation changes including specific glycans attached to the Fc portion of antibodies that dictate antibody effector functions in auto- and alloimmune conditions, inflammatory and infectious diseases, and cancer. Exploring the glycomic dimension of diseases has great promise in providing novel diagnostic and therapeutic leads.

Affiliated to ResearchThe Eurolife Distinguished Lecture Series (EDLS) offer a platform for inviting distinguished researchers from other Eurolife Universities to present cutting-edge research at one host Eurolife University. The design of the Series also allows an active dialogue between lecturers, researchers and students and foster awareness and branding in partner institutions.
