Samuli Rautava acts as the Head of Department at the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit of the Helsinki University Hospital and Assistant Professor of Neonatology at the University of Helsinki, Finland.

Dr. Rautava's research focuses on the long-term health consequences of perinatal and neonatal exposures and particularly the clinical significance of early gut microbiome development and its perturbations. His translational approach consists of clinical trials, register studies, and close collaboration with experts in microbiology, bioinformatics and experimental animal models.
