Welcome to a Crossing Borders webinar with Ujjwal Neogi, Karolinska Institytet on Wednesday 20 January at 11.00 CET. A webinar series focusing on interdisciplinary sciences hosted by AIMES.

Title

"Comprehensive mapping of metabolic perturbations in emerging and re-emerging RNA viruses"

Speaker

Ujjwal Neogi, Karolinska Institutet

Abstract

Viruses exploit the host metabolic machinery to meet their biosynthetic demands, making these host pathways potential therapeutic targets. His group works to understand how RNA viruses like HIV-1, Crimean-Congo Hemorrhagic Fever Virus (CCHFV), and, more recently, SARS-CoV-2 exploit central carbon metabolism to evade or delay host antiviral response for its replication advantage. He will present how integrative multi-omics studies can be used to understand virus biology comprehensively and develop antiviral strategies through metabolic perturbation against pathogenic viruses.
