François Rousset did his PhD at the Pasteur Institute in Paris in the group of Dr. David Bikard, where he developed CRISPR-derived genetic tools to study gene function in bacteria. He then moved to the Weizmann Institute of Science in Israel as a postdoc in the group of Prof. Rotem Sorek. Since 2021, he has focused on the diverse immune strategies employed by bacteria to combat viruses, providing new insights on the molecular mechanisms of innate immunity across the tree of life.
