Centre for bioinformatics and biostatistics (CBB) presents a seminar with Akiko Minoda.
Title
Mukin Mouse Ageing Atlas uncovers intrinsic cellular ageing features.
Speaker
Akiko Minoda, Associate professor, Radboud University, The Netherlands.
Abstract
Little is known on whether the microbiota plays a role in driving inflammageing (chronic low level inflammation observed in aged population). We have constructed a functional ageing atlas of germ-free mice (mice with no microbiota that are kept in a sterile environment) called Mu-kin (germ-free in Japanese) Mouse Ageing Atlas. The atlas consists of single cell RNA-seq and single cell ATAC-seq data of ten tissues from young and old mice, with and without microbiota. To our surprise, the level of inflammageing was only slightly lower in old GF mice, and we have uncovered intrinsic cellular ageing features that are likely driving the process of ageing. I will highlight two such aspects in my talk, namely senescence of alveolar macrophages and increase in age-associated B cells.
Before the seminar, a limited number of sandwiches and drinks will be served on a “First come – first served” basis. Show up early and network!
The seminar is held in English.
