Title
AI-based precision pathology – scalable solutions for cancer patient stratification and phenotyping.
Speaker
Dr. Mattias Rantalainen, Docent, Department of Medical Epidemiology and Biostatistics, KI.
Abstract
Precision medicine has the potential to substantially improve cancer patient outcomes, but it requires precision diagnostic solutions for effective patient stratification. However, molecular diagnostics remain expensive, limiting patient access and imposing a high economic burden on healthcare systems. To address these challenges, we develop and implement AI-based histopathology image analysis solutions for image-based phenotyping and patient stratification, applicable in both clinical settings and cancer research. Our recent work demonstrates how deep learning models can improve risk stratification for breast cancer patients, compared to routine pathology, offering similar performance to established molecular diagnostics. These findings have been developed into a CE-IVD marked solution for clinical use.
Before the seminar, a limited number of sandwiches and drinks will be served on a “First come – first served” basis. Show up early and network!
The seminar is held in English.
