Centre for bioinformatics and biostatistics presents an educational seminar in bioinformatics.

Before the seminar, a limited number of sandwiches and drinks will be served on a “First come – first served” basis starting 12:00. Show up early and network!

The seminar is held in English.

Abstract

After conducting a high-throughput sequencing experiment, such as RNAseq, coupled with expression analysis to identify differentially regulated genes, the next question we then encounter is: what do my genes do? Here we discuss how to elucidate the functional roles of genes. We will present an overview of methodologies and tools, employed in the systematic analysis of gene lists using various resources such as Gene Ontology (GO) annotations and pathway databases. We will discuss the different statistical methods which can be employed for such an analysis and cover both web-based tools as well as how to perform such analysis using R.
