Centre for bioinformatics and biostatistics presents a biostatistics workshop.

Elegant graphs enhance the value of research articles by clearly illustrating patterns and relationships in data. Data visualization plays a crucial role in the analysis process, from data exploration—assessing completeness and accuracy—to statistical modeling, where visual checks are essential for evaluating model assumptions and predictions.

While commercial statistical software can generate graphs, they are often less visually appealing and require time-consuming customization, especially when the data changes and figures must be updated. In contrast, R enables the creation of stunning, highly customizable figures. The code for generating these graphs is typically just a few lines, making it simple to rerun with an updated dataset. In fact, learning how to plot in R is an engaging way to learn the language, offering immediate visual feedback and producing impressive results.

In this workshop, you will create a publication-ready graph in R using your own data. After a 30-minute introduction to ggplot2, R's primary package for data visualization, we will individually guide you through creating a graph of your choice (for examples, visit www.r-graph-gallery.com).

The workshop is free and open to everyone at KI/KS in Flemingsberg. The number of participants is limited to 18.

Please apply before 17 October 2024.
