Lost in assumptions: Is this normal?

Abstract

In this seminar, Dr. Henrike Häbel will go over common misconceptions around the normality assumption in statistical analyses involving the t-test, analysis of variance and linear regression. She will explain why you should never formally test for normality and present graphical alternatives for visual inspections. She will illustrate the consequences of violations of the normal assumption on the example of simulation studies. Finally, she will provide a practical guide for how to detect and deal with violations of the normality assumption.
