Welcome to a seminar on "Epigenetic and transcriptional mechanisms of HIV-1 latency: implications for innovative therapeutic strategies" with Professor Carine Van Lint, Univesity of Brussels (ULB).

Welcome!

The BioNut Seminar Series is a seminar series where the different group leaders at the Biosciences and Nutrition Unit, Department of Medicine, Huddinge, will invite and host a seminar.

Carine Van Lint is Professor at the University of Brussels (ULB, Belgium) and Research Director of the Belgian National Fund for Scientific Research (F.N.R.S.). Her research focuses on the molecular and epigenetic mechanisms regulating transcriptional latency and reactivation from latency in 3 retroviruses: HIV-1 and two oncogenic retroviruses HTLV-I (human T cell leukemia/lymphoma virus type 1) and BLV (Bovine Leukemia Virus). Regarding HIV-1, one of the major objectives of her laboratory is to design, based on transcriptional mechanisms, novel strategies to reduce the pool of latent reservoirs to a level bearable by the host immune system.
