Biosketch
Dr Sofie Van Gassen received her PhD in Computer Science Engineering from Ghent University in 2017. During her PhD she developed machine learning techniques for flow cytometry data, including the FlowSOM algorithm. Since 2018, she is further extending and improving machine learning techniques for flow cytometry data as a postdoc in the SaeysLab group (VIB-Ugent Center for Inflammation Research). From 2018 to 2023, she was an ISAC Marylou Ingram Scholar.

- a short overview of algorithms like FlowSOM, PeacoQC and CytoNORM, that were developed to enable relevant downstream analysis;
- some applications we have been working on in our lab, including diagnosis of hematopoietic disorders, cancer heterogeneity, and prognosis of lung cancer patients
